Dr. Monique Udell received her M. S. and Ph. D. from the University of Florida where she co-founded the Canine Cognition and Behavior Lab and studied with Dr. Clive Wynne. It was there that she began her research on the development and flexibility of social behavior and cognition in dogs and wolves.  Since that time, Dr. Udell has continued to study and write about the social behavior of canines – as well as human-animal interactions more generally- with a special focus on lifetime factors that facilitate social bonds between humans and other species.  Her work has resulted in numerous scientific publications as well national and international conference presentations and speaking opportunities. Although much of her recent work has focused on dogs and wolves, Dr. Udell has had the opportunity to work with a variety of animals over the years including domesticated and wild cats, ferrets, horses, megachiropteran bats, coyotes, foxes, mice, birds and non-human primates.

Dr. Udell is currently an Assistant Professor of Animal and Rangeland Sciences at Oregon State University. She is also a director and consultant with BARC group (www.barcgroup.org), providing lectures, training, and animal behavior consulting to pet owners, zoos, lawyers, and other organizations.

Shelly Volsche has over eight years of professional training and behavior experience. She is certified by the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers and holds a Diploma as a Canine Fitness and Nutrition Specialist. Shelly completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with an emphasis on comparative psychology and animal learning. She is working on a graduate degree in Anthropology with research emphases including evolutionary psychology, animal domestication, and the many influences on the human-canine bond. She enjoys speaking on human-canine topics and helping new trainers build their skills. Her goal is to help bridge the communication gap existing in so many human-animal relationships. Sue Anne has a 40 year background of instructing humans and working with animals. Directing youth and adults with all facets of Arabian horses, she passes on her knowledge through private clinics and judging a limited number of open horse shows.
Her passion since 1998, has been Jack Russell Terriers and involvement with the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America. Sue Anne is a regular contributor to the club news magazine, and serves as vice chair on the National trial committee. She competes across the country at sanctioned events, and hosts a trial annually in Gunnison Colorado. www.WestElkTerriers.com is her kennel of working, competitive, recreational and loved canines.
Her experience has led to the development of a system of breeding, imprinting, and rearing puppies, as well as educating owners to create the best lifelong experience and partnership for dog and owner. Teaching this method of whelping and caring for puppies has led to her easy to learn, and successful program that can be duplicated whether you are having a single litter or are an advanced breeder wishing to expand your experience of rearing puppies, and improve marketing skills to produce an ultimate product of healthy, well adjusted canines of all breeds.
