Approaching Animal Hospice: Geriatric & Special Needs Care for our Animal Companions

September 3, 2018 By Cheryl Aguiar |

IMAG0103Approaching Animal Hospice: Geriatric & Special Needs Care for our Animal Companions

Learn how to care for your animal as it ages or when it needs special care.

Offered by Spirits in Transition™, this beautiful 10 session course is for the animal lover who wants to prepare for supporting their animal companion through it’s senior years and other times of special needs. The animal hospice care certificate course teaches you to provide end-of-life care for animal friends.
The class details options we may still have in situations when we are told “nothing else can be done”. It is also a great educational resource for those offering related professional support services when aiming for a quality of care similar to what is available for human family members.

Course Information:This informative course is taught by veterinarian Ella Bittel. Ella is recognized by her peers as a leader in animal hospice and has presented on that topic and the one leading up to it, geriatric and special-needs care, at numerous veterinary conferences. Ella has specialized in and shares from her experience working with holistic modalities for over 30 years, among them veterinary acupuncture and chiropractic, cranio-sacral work, homeopathy, herbs, essential oils, TTOUCH and energy medicine techniques adapted from Donna Eden.

This SPIRITS in Transition™ online class gives information that may make it possible for your animal, whether dog, cat, horse or other, to live a happy and content life for many months or even years longer than it may otherwise. How is that possible? Fortunately support options have greatly increased to address the needs of our senior animals as well as younger ones who might end up requiring special care earlier on. For you to be familiar with those options can be life saving for your animal friends or those whom you serve professionally. We may hope that every veterinarian would explain all these options to us as need arises, however many of these options are not part of what is taught in veterinary school.
In this course holistic veterinarian Ella Bittel put together a treasure box of tools that allow you to optimize care for your beloved animal companion even at times when commonly it would be assumed an impasse has been reached. Along the way, this class systematically explores the main reasons why companion animals are euthanized, offering a fresh perspective on how to respond to health challenges with integrative care options, which encompass conventional as well as complementary medicine therapies, and also detailing the day-to-day care, ways in which the caregiver can support their animal loved one.
