FROM THE DOG’S POINT OF VIEW

December 1, 2017 By Cheryl Aguiar |

Natural Techniques to a Happy and Obedient dog

Reactive dog? Learn how you can leave it up to the dog to solve it through Natural Conflict Resolution.

In a micro managing world we sometimes try to control everything and everyone, especially our dogs.

From the author of “Instinct Leading to Balance and Obedience”, let’s revisit the simple notion of building a strong bond and relationship with our canine friends by “Stopping the crazy control tendency and  letting the dog show us how better training is accomplished ” .

…Course should be mandatory…

I just completed this course with instructor Catherine Harvey. She is truly an incredible teacher, she provides detailed feedback in a timely and positive manner and challenges her students to think out of the box. She asks pertinent questions instead of just giving answers which really required me to think deeply and reflectively.

This course has changed my perspective and challenged my views on how we treat dogs in our society for the better. It will help me out immensely as a dog trainer.

Catharine was personable and enthusiastic throughout the course and it made for a really engaging learning opportunity.  Her course should be mandatory or at least recommended for the dog trainer program.

I'm sad the course has ended and I'd love to know if she's teaching any other courses so I can add them to my list of courses I'd like to take in the future. Thanks, Ramona

“How better bond building and less intervention can enhance more obedience and successful training” Here Less is Better

Instructor:Catherine R. Harvey, ACDBC, CPDT-KA

Catherine is an IAABC Associate Certified Dog Behavior Consultant and a CCPDT Certified Professional Dog Trainer. She is the owner of www.pawcanine.com

Prerequisites – An open mind.

Overview –Have you ever looked at your dog and thought: “There must something more than just giving a command and my dog obeying me (or not). Professionals and dog owners know that beneath the surface of our furry friends, someone special is hiding and is wanting to be discovered. Have you ever wondered:

  • Who is my dog?
  • How can I know him better?
  •  How can I develop a great relationship?
  • How can I improve my training with him, by respecting a few common sense rules?
  • How can I see the world through his nose?

About this course: This is a 7 lesson course that will take the student inside a dog’s mind. We will witness how  the human companion can better understand how to change the perspective of an unbalanced dog, and ultimately change its behavior. The student will learn to stretch his training knowledge by letting go of certain traditional methods, to favor more natural and rapid ways to change a dogs’ demeanor. You’ll learn that trust and respect in the human canine relationship are paramount for success. This will lead us to explore natural conflict resolution, and how dogs can help each other when human interaction is kept to a minimum. Each lesson will have a quiz and homework and at the end a  final written exam.

Course Objectives:

  • Reactive dog behavior change
  • Address your dog’s instinct
  • How mirror neurons influence your dog’s behavior.
  • How do I gain respect from your dog?
