Purpose of Course: The popularity of tricks training has exploded, and it’s not hard to see why. Training your dog to do tricks is fun for both dog and owner, increases your dog’s responsiveness and nurtures the dog/ owner bond. In this course you will strengthen basic obedience commands, plus learn how to teach your dog 6 fun and easy tricks, all while acquiring basic training skills that you can use to teach your dog virtually anything!
Course Overview: With the guidance of step-by-step video lessons, we’ll learn the basic positional skills of ‘sit’ and ‘down’, plus our 6 tricks- touch, spin, shake, roll over, jump through a hoop and take a bow. This course also teaches you how to use a ‘marker’, shows you the most beneficial way to train with food treats, and discusses the benefits of tricks training (it’s more than just a lot of fun!).
Prerequisites: None, except the willingness to have fun with your dog. This course is appropriate for dog and owner teams who have never done tricks before.
Required Equipment: The equipment requirement is minimal and inexpensive. All you will need is a clicker, food treats, a treat pouch or container, and a hoop (such as a child’s hula hoop.)

About the course: 100% online, this course is filled with video demonstrations and is approximately 70 minutes long. This course is entirely self-paced, and can easily be finished within the 6 month access period. Extensions available on request.
