The Use of Intravenous Nutrition in Pets-IV Nutrition for Dogs

The Use of Intravenous Nutrition in Pets

Due to poor nutritional practices in many pets they often no longer are able to absorb the nutrients they ingest. Many chronic illnesses may be exacerbated by a lack of nutrition. There is either poor gut function or excessive toxic load or both, causing an overload of the system.

Intravenous (IV) administration can offset the need for massive quantities of oral supplements thus treating the disease at a root level.  Nutrition, that when abundant, will not allow disease to flourish appears to assist healing a litany of disease labels.  Long used human IV therapies have been adapted by the author for use in our canine companions.  Even western medicine can recognize the place for IV nutritional therapies, for instance the use of B12 injections in small intestinal disease.

Case studies, background and when to use different protocols will be discussed.  IV therapies have been used for behavioral issues and wellness programs to neoplasic protocols.  All-in-all this author believes if you give the pet’s body what it needs (i.e. oxygen) it will heal itself.
