Play Problems
–We tend to think of play going on for hours and hours. Play lasts three to seven minutes
and then should fizzle out into exploratory behaviour, rest or other social behaviour.
-When we encourage play to go on and on and on, we risk that arousal will get higher and
higher and higher.
-Think for a moment about how games occur; we take turns, we rest, we sit out for periods
of time.
-Asking dogs to play on and on and on within a confined area is a recipe for dog fights;
predatory or otherwise..
