Differentiating Between Fearful and Submissive Behavior in Canines

September 12, 2012 By Cheryl Aguiar |

Fearful and Submissive Dog Behavior

Speakers: Monty Sloan and Monique Udell, PhD

Description: Do you know how to recognize when your dog is exhibiting fearful behavior? Can you recognize the difference between fear and submission? Why would this be important to know?

Monty Sloan and Dr. Udell present information about the comparative definitions of fear and submission. Beautiful photo illustrations allow participants to learn to differentiate between the body language signals of these differing emotional states in wolves and dogs that are exhibiting fearful and submissive dog behavior. It is often important to know the difference between fear and submission and when submission may be resulting from fear. There are many different ways a dog can show fear and/or submission. Fear and submission are also linked. Learn the different contributing factors to fearful and submissive behavior in dogs: how genetics, socialization periods, personality and epigenetics all contribute to fearful and submissive dog behavior. Dogs and wolves have different socialization periods that are critical to normal development for each. This webinar also covers some of the ways we can help our dog with fears. As usual, Monty’s presentations are visually stunning, lively and very informative.
