Professional Online Dog Grooming Certificate Program

January 1, 2018 By Cheryl Aguiar |

Professional Online Dog Grooming CertificateLearn how to groom your dog with our professional online dog grooming certificate program. Graduates will earn a certificate upon successful completion and graduate from our program with the knowledge and experience to be successful and be safe.

This is a professional non-degree program for individuals interested in a career in dog grooming. Learning how to groom dogs requires a substantial amount of both hands-on experience and general knowledge about dog breeds, behavior and the special care required for each breed. In this program, we offer the student the opportunity to do both (“knowledge” and “hands on”) 100% online.

Coursework, video lectures and video demonstrations are provided online.  Students will be required to accurately complete online quizzes/exams and turn in on-time and accurate worksheets or other written homework. Students MUST also participate in hands-on training by providing video evidence (video homework submitted to the Instructor for grading) to graduate from this program.

Instructor: Anita Case

Prerequisites: The following courses must be taken before the grooming courses due to safety and liability issues for us, you and your animal clients.  The behavior class is absolutely necessary to help you read and understand body language so that when you groom, you won’t push yourself or the dog and end up getting hurt. The Different Breeds, Different Needs course is key, for as groomers, you will need to be able to identify and understand the needs of various dog breeds in order to provide optimal handling and care for all of your clients.

In addition, from a CBCC-KA test participant:

You asked me to let you know if I passed my CBCC exam. Yes! Received my Certificate this week. I had several last minute questions in May & your group was quick to respond. I had taken this course last fall b/c the CBCC does not offer a study guide. I figured this course would be helpful, it was more than helpful it was invaluable! I encourage everyone to take this & then stay involved with the next students questions and answers. I truly believe answering your questions was what gave me the proper foundation for passing the CBCC exam. Thank you! Melissa M. Hatfield M.S., CBCC

Canine Behavior Consultant Certificate

May 9, 2016 By Cheryl Aguiar |

Canine Canine Behavior Consultant Certificate

At e-Training for Dogs we are extremely pleased to be able to offer a comprehensive canine behavior consultant educational program to assist dog trainers and enthusiasts to enter the exciting and rewarding career of dog behavior consulting.

Prerequisites: A basic knowledge of dogs as well as enthusiasm and interest in educating owners and their dogs to become well mannered participants in society.

Purpose:  The canine behavior consultant specializes in working with dogs and their people to solve behavior problems. Slightly different from the Associate Dog Training Certificate that concentrates on training fundamental dog behaviors, the canine behavior consultant concentrates on eliminating problem dog behaviors.  Learn canine behavior consulting and dog behavior from theory to application, from puppy training to advanced dog training. Essential for anyone interested in the study of dogs, dog behavior and for those workingwith dogs in any capacity.

Testimonial:

“Wow again,  I appreciate all the hard work both you and all the instructors have put in to making this curriculum what it was.

I feel it was worth every moment and effort that I put into it and I would recommend this to any person seeking to learn what is needed to succeed in this profession.  I feel as though I had the personal service that I had received even at Rutgers University with my undergrad studies, and that I know what I need to do and where to find the information needed to fill any personal holes in my preparation for the national certification exams.  I have found your guidance in all matters to be superb and enlightened and this has enabled me to find an excellent mentor and logical path with which to proceed after my graduation.

I am certainly going to continue to follow your advice and join some of the professional organizations, especually the ones recommended by you and my instructors.  This has been a great experience for me, and I thank all of the administrators and staff again.
Aly”

General Certificate Information: Individuals who are passionate about improving their bonds with their own dogs or desire to become a dog behaviorist would greatly benefit from this unique program. You will explore key areas such as: How dogs developed to be our companions, psychology of dogs (how they learn), canine body language and how they interpret our body language, and problem dog behavior solutions. Our program allows the flexibility for students with varying life experiences and interests to take courses that will enhance their skills and get them closer to realizing their goal of working with dogs as a profession.

Accreditation: Since there are no formal Accrediting agencies in the United States or Canada for Canine Behavior Consultants, we have done our best to make sure that our courses are approved by the top organizations both Nationally and Internationally. As such, all of our courses are approved by the IAABC, NADOI and the CCPDT for Continuing Education Credits and Educational Events. Some schools claim they are approved by their State, but this is only as a business offering educational products, NOT true accreditation.  ONLY a University has the ability to offer true accreditation.

Please note: This is not an “email” or “mail order” Certificate. Though it is available 100% over the internet, this is a very “hands on” program when required. Skills learned must be demonstrated by video submissions to your instructors. (NOTE: Not all courses require videos). This is an intensive program and you will need to demonstrate your learning. The power of the internet allows sending videos as homework and final exams easy and effective. We are the first and only school that adheres to these strict measures and our students are respected as a result. We also do more than train you how to use a clicker. We provide the theory behind the skills to our students.

What students can expect to learn from this program:

  • To understand canine behavior and how they communicate with each other and with us.
  • To understand the various factors that go into dog behavior.
  • To learn the various theoretical underpinnings of current knowledge around dogs.
  • How to shape dog behavior using conditioning and reinforcement.

March 3, 2016 By Cheryl Aguiar |

Puppy fitness classPuppy Fitness Course

Purpose: Extended 8 lesson puppy fitness course webinar, where you learn how puppies grow, what their nutritional and exercise needs are to enhance body awareness, self-confidence and to support each stage of your puppy’s development.

Course Information: This course will focus on puppies from eight weeks up to eighteen months of age. We begin with structural evaluation of your dog as it relates to function – in other words we are evaluating for purpose, not for fancy. Each session will be dedicated to a different region of the dog as we discuss the different stages of development, including growth plate closure and use this information to guide us as we develop a more conscious approach to puppy development instead of destruction.

Roles of Dogs in Society

April 21, 2015 By Cheryl Aguiar |

Roles of Dogs in SocietyRoles of dogs in Society: Assistance dogs, service dogs, emotional support dogs, therapy dogs, and companion dogs

Dogs’ roles in society are expanding, whether as companions or assuming special roles for assistance or therapy by volunteers or human health professionals.  Many changes are appearing in new research findings and evolving regulatory and legislative updates around the roles of dogs in society. Animals’ psychosocial effects for people rest on theoretical perspectives with associated physiological and psychosocial processes. And, practical applications of human-animal interactions for therapy or enhanced quality of life continue to increase.  One complication is the inconsistent vocabulary used for assistance, service and therapy dogs’ roles for vulnerable people. Whatever their specific roles, animals can offer psychosocial benefits: normalize and enhance quality of life by alleviating loneliness or depression for those with mental illness or disabilities, increase social interactions, motivate people, and improve physiological health with calming effects.  Animals increasingly in the U.S. offer personalized assistance or emotional support, especially dogs; various species can provide a nexus with the person’s needs, with access permitted in housing and transport.  Recent robots imitate the actions of assistance dogs or emotionally-supporting animals. One next step is for health professionals to deliver personally targeted and tailored treatments.

Speaker: Lynette A. Hart, Ph.D.

Learning objectives:

  • Legislative and regulatory provisions in the U.S. regarding “service dogs” (the inclusive term)
  • The importance of the service dog to the person, and factors affecting the relationship
  • Specified criteria for training and placement to gain accreditation from Assistance Dogs International (ADI)
  • Requirements of some federal agencies and some facilities, e.g., the U.S. Army, the U.S. Veterans Administration, for allowing and supporting service dogs
  • California’s approach to service animal registration
  • Uses of canine companionship in legal settings
  • Differences between ADI-trained “facility dogs” of working professionals, and “therapy dogs”

Recorded live, now available as a recording.

Cost: $25.00
