Kurt Kotrschal-thumbnailKurt M. Kotrschal, PhD born 1953 in Linz/Austria, married since 1975, two children. Masters (1978) and PhD (1981) from the University of Salzburg. 1983-1984 PostDoc at the University of Arizona/Tiucson, 1989-1990 Visiting Scientist at the University of Colorado Health Science Center. Since 1990 Professor at the University of Vienna Department of Behavioural Biology, Director of the Konrad Lorenz Research Station (KLF) in Grünau/Austria (www.klf.ac.at), co-founder of the Wolf Science Center (1998; www.wolfscience.at). At the core of present scientific interests are the interaction between ecological conditions and the evolution of social and
cognitive mechanisms in mammals and birds. This work expanded into the area of human-animal relationships and comparative research in wolves and dogs. More than 200 original research papers, book chapters and books.
Austrias Scientist of the year 2010, Science Book of the year 2013. Regular media appearances including a newspaper column on science and society.
