The ADT is similar to the core courses taken in college. The CP is like a college degree as you will be expected to have a good understanding of five specific areas in the study of dogs. You also have CHOICES from a set of courses on which specific courses you want to take.
Level I. Associate Dog Trainer (ADT) Students explore key areas such as: How dogs developed to be our companions, canine body language and how they interpret our body language, basic dog care, basic dog training using positive reinforcement techniques, how to end many common canine problem behaviors, and an advanced first aid course.
Level II. Canine Professional Diploma (CP) The Canine Professional Diploma (CPD) program at e-Training for Dogs, Inc., encompasses the key areas of study for current canine professionals: Dog Health; Breeding and Genetics; Dog Behavior; Dogs and Society; and Professional Business skills. This is the most "professional" canine course of study available today. It is designed by a former college professor and modeled after academic curriculums. This is similar to achieving a baccalaureate degree.

Why a Certificate/Diploma?
Certificates/Diplomas are increasingly recognized by employers and clients as validation of special skills and knowledge. Certificates offer the possibility to study a concentrated area without the expense or time commitment of seeking an entire degree.
About Certificates/Diplomas
Earning a certificate or diploma demonstrates your willingness to make the time commitment necessary for professional and career development and success. A certificate is only as good as the knowledge and skills gained by the student. In other words, its quality is dependent on the Instructor, the Content and the Student. We stand behind you with our name on your Certificate or Diploma. This is not something we take lightly.
Validity of an Internet Program for a Dog Trainer
To be a dog trainer, one's training MUST consist of a large proportion of hands-on experience. Dogs are live creatures and you can not learn how to be a dog trainer without training dogs. Our internet-based courses are mainly "applied." This means you will be expected to take what you learn, apply it and prove (demonstrate) that you have applied it. How can this be done over the internet? Through the rich capability of the medium of course delivery used at E-Training for Dogs, Inc., we rely heavily on in-class discussion, presentation and VIDEO DEMONSTRATIONS. This means YOU will have to video your progress working with the dog in whatever homework you are given and send it to your instructor who will often share it in class. You will have to demonstrate your progress working with a dog. We are not a mail order school.
Accreditation:
- At E-Training for Dogs, Inc. we are seeking “specialized” accreditation wherever and whenever we can find a legitimate accrediting body. Unfortunately, there are not many legitimate specialized accrediting agencies in the canine professions. For example, our Therapy Dog I course is recognized by the Council of Certified Pet Dog Trainers. It counts for 5 CEU's if you are a CPDT. We have several other examples, dependent on the specialization area. Another is the Canine Massage Therapy Certification through Treetops in Canada. Watch for the accreditations on various Diplomas.
- “Instititional” accreditation at E-Training for Dogs, Inc. We currently provide web-hosting services for the International Animal Care College (IACC) in the UK. The IACC does accredit and provide Certification or Diplomas using both internal and external reviewers to oversee course and instructor quality. This review process assures the student of quality education.
About the IACC: The college works on behalf of its members to raise the profile of their professionalism and commitment to the animal care industry, by offering a range of qualifications to help them further their career development. We also provide information to the public about training and qualifications available and accrediting graduates and their businesses to promote trained and professional services in the industry internationally and the opportunity to take Continuing Education classes.
The college provides a quality assurance/accreditation of animal care professionals and businesses. All members agree to adhere to best practice and guidelines for their specialist field in the animal care industry when joining the College. All members will receive a Membership Certificate.
