Advanced Placement Guidelines

There are two types: General and Subject Examinations

General Examinations (*ONLY available to those earning a Professional Dog Trainer Certification (PDT)*)
Cost: $75

There are six different separate General Examinations:
1. Associate Dog Trainer (ADT)
2. Dog Health
3. Breeding and Genetics
4. Dog Behavior
5. Dogs and Society
6. Professional Trainer

A General Examination (GE) will include test questions from all the possible courses listed under the PDT subject areas. For example, the “Dog Health” GE will include questions from First Aid, Grooming, Conditioning, Senior DogCare, etc.
***SPECIAL NOTE: The Associate Dog Trainer General Examination (ADT GE) can only be used to count toward the PDT Certification. (i.e., Students can not take only the ADT GE test, earn an IACCETD ADT, and never take a course from the IACCETD.)

  • No more than two General Examinations can be used to earn your PDT.
  • General examinations will be taken at the student’s home while online in a classroom. They will be scheduled with
us and will be timed tests. No study guides will be provided.

The Subject Examinations measure achievement in specific courses (one course) and are used to grant exemption from and credit for a specific course.
